Steven M. Sylvester

Security Leadership

Steven M. Sylvester is a security and public safety professional with more than 26 years of progressive experience leading security operations, conducting investigations, managing risk, and protecting people in both government and private-sector environments. His career reflects a commitment to integrity, accountability, and continuous professional development while serving in positions of increasing responsibility.

Following successful completion of the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board Basic Recruit Training Program, Mr. Sylvester began his career with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, where he served for more than two decades. During his tenure, he developed extensive experience in public safety, corrections, investigations, emergency response, evidence handling, incident management, and security operations while working in demanding, high-pressure environments requiring sound judgment and decisive leadership.

Building upon his law enforcement foundation, Mr. Sylvester expanded his leadership experience into the private sector, serving in security leadership roles with Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants and currently with UPS at the CACH facility, one of the nation’s largest logistics operations. These roles strengthened his expertise in corporate security, physical security, operational leadership, threat assessment, risk mitigation, emergency preparedness, and the protection of personnel, facilities, and critical assets.

Throughout his career, Mr. Sylvester has remained committed to professional growth by continually expanding his knowledge through specialized training, certifications, and emerging technologies. His professional credentials include law enforcement certification, investigative and crisis intervention training, armed security licensing, and numerous public safety and security qualifications, while continuing to pursue advanced certifications including OSHA 30 and the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.

Mr. Sylvester believes that effective security leadership is built upon preparation, professionalism, and trust. He approaches every responsibility with the understanding that protecting people extends beyond responding to incidents—it requires building resilient organizations, developing strong teams, anticipating risk, and making informed decisions before problems occur.
